We Love Wrestling!

The goal of Lamorinda Wrestling Club is to help kids fall in love with the  sport of wrestling. Our approach is to make wrestling fun and to educate kids about the world’s oldest and greatest sport. If we succeed, then kids will learn valuable lessons that go far beyond the wresting room.

Practices teach kids the fundamentals of wrestling, including attacking, defense, counter-offense, control and escapes.  Sessions consist of a mix of gymnastics and calisthenics, technique, drills and live wrestling. The focus will be on learning the fundamentals, having fun and sharing  the  values wrestling is well known for - hard work, humility,  self-confidence and respect.

Session Information

We are a seasonal club which runs from the beginning of November through the end of January. Registration for the 2024-25 season is closed. If you would like to be added to the distribution list to receive information about registration for next year, please email lamowrestling@gmail.com.

Parents are welcome to observe practices but are not allowed onto the mats unless invited by an instructor. They are prohibited from cheering or coaching from the sidelines.

For practice, your child should wear shorts and a t-shirt and bring a water bottle. Please no jeans, corduroys, sweaters or sweatshirts. If your child has braces, a mouth guard is recommended.

Please make sure your child has wrestling shoes. For hygiene purposes, your child should wear street shoes into the gym and then change into his/her wrestling shoes once in the gym.

You can purchase shoes at Dick's Sporting Goods or Amazon

Competition

Children will have the chance to participate in three to five tournaments during the season if they are interested and the staff determines they are ready to compete. We do not care whether your child wins or losses his/her matches, but competition is a good way to focus a child’s attention, reward hard effort, and show them where they need to improve.
